New Tax Provisions Set Forth By Law Decree No. 18 of 17 March 2020

The edition of the I.T.S.G. Global Tax Journal of May 2020 is devoted to responses of countries across the world to the COVID-19 pandemic. 26 articles from 33 authors cover 21 countries on five continents. From Italy to Brazil, Switzerland to the U.S.A., India to Japan and various countries in between, I.T.S.G. member firms and one applicant firm explain the rules with local flair.

The interesting takeaway from this edition is the divergence in approaches adopted by different countries. Some countries focused principally on social distancing and enhanced governmental powers. Others adopted a lending program to small and medium companies. Still others deferred – but did not yet forgive – tax payments for V.A.T, employee wage withholding, and social contributions.
